Magick Creatures-2016

Magick Creatures
There are Magical Creatures of the oceans, forests, deep woods, high/low mountains, deepest caves, skies,
volcanoes, underworld and unknown worlds who have choose to be either seen or NOT!
This is my topic of discussion for this post today.
If you think about it, there are all kinds of creatures in this world. Its just that you might be thinking about the typical ones - like tigers, elephants & monkeys etc. In this Post I am going to cover the not so typical creatures of the world. Ones you would not typically think of, like a elephant. I will be taking you to that place where you may think these creatures do or don't exist. Its really up to you. On how much you are willing to believe in the Unknown! If you think about it, these Magical creatures could be right in front of you all the time its just they choose not to be seen! And they choose who will get to see them. Us humans. These could be either the good Fae or very evil Fae.
 Basilisk
There are quite a few of these Magick Creatures that can blend into our nature and they can also take a form of nature too. So that is one reason you could be staring right at one of them without even seeing them. But they certainly seen YOU!
Some of these Magical Creatures are very small and are helpful to humans without you even knowing it!
Magick Creatures
Others are Enormous and would like nothing better than to eat you whole!
These Creatures generally are found in a different realm or unknown worlds.
There are other types of Magick creatures that like to use their magic to trick humans when they enter our world. By getting you to trust them - After they have accomplished this they probably would change their form  by shape-shifting in which a lot of the magic creatures are able to do.
Then of course there are the ones that are so fearsome that they stick-out like that of the Basilisk.
Curious thing is that all these creatures our not just in our imaginations. I'm sure that some are, but if you
Magick Creatures
open your mind, these mythic creatures as they are called, just might have a whole different look on the world for you. Truly what is a monster? And is it just in the ancient Mythology of Greece, Egyptian and other countries? Or is it Now! Well I believe that it is now and it has always been that way.
But I have opened my eyes. Will YOU!

A Selkies Song~
An earthly nurse sits and sings
and aye, she sings by lily wean,
and little ken I by bairn's father,
Far less the land where he dwells in.

For he came one night to her bed feet,
And a grumbly guest, I'm sure was he,
Saying "Here am I, thy bairn's father,
Although I be not comely.

I am a man upon the land,
I am a selkie on the sea,
And when I'm far and far frae land,
My home it is in Sule Skerrie."

And he had ta' en a purse of gold,
And he placed it placed it upon her knee,

Saying: "Give it to my little young son,
And take thee up they nurse's fee."

"And it shall come to pass on a summer's day
when the Sun shines bright on every Stone,
I'll come and fetch my little son,
and teach him how to swim the faem."

"And ye shall marry a gunner good,
and a right fine gunner I'm sure he'll be,
And the very first shot that he e'er shoots,
Will kill my young son and me."

The Vodianoy-An Slavic Folklore Magick Creature 2013

The Vodianoy - An Slavic Folklore Magical Creature
As I continue my quest one finding new magical creatures I found the Vodianoy which is a Slavic magical creature to is said to appear as a naked old man with greenish skin and long hair. His body is covered in algae and muck, usually in black fish scales. He has webbed pawed hands, a fish tail and his eyes burn like red hot coals. It is said that he usually rides along his river on a half suck log, making loud splashes and consequently he is often dubbed 'Grandfather or Firefather' by the local people of the town, because if there are any local drownings in the towns it usually means its the work of the Slavic Vodianoy.
When they are angered it is said - that they break dams, wash down dams, watermills, and drown
hundred's of people & animals in the towns that are closes to to him.  (consequently, fisherman, millers and also bee-keepers make sacrifices to appease the Vodianoy - since they all work near the water)
These Slavic Magical creatures are also been known to down people to his underwater dwellings to serve him as his slaves.
I found these to be very interesting creatures as I found The Leshy - woodland spirit of the forest, that protects all wild animals and the tree's in the Slavic Folklore Mythology... I hope you enjoyed these two interesting Magical creatures that I have found. I hope to find more in the Slavic folklore in future blogs.. Wendy.

Gnomes~

Gnomes~
I have always loved Gnomes and thought it would be fun to do a
post
on these Magical Creatures. As another post on My Love for Magical

Creatures!
The Gnomes are said to be dwarfs or even goblins in my research, but I find that hard to believe. I myself would not put Gnomes in the same category as nasty goblins.

[ A Goblin - can be either small or quite large/huge, usually green, but they come in a variety of colors like red, brown earths. Which are common too. They  are a bipedal creature, the goblin is possessed of a keen cunning and although not often very wise,

Goblins tend toward the highly intelligent. Goblins can be also highly malicious, coming from a very competitive society. Some groups of the goblins will work together strongly under great leaders, whilst others may simply bicker and squabble amongst themselves. Goblins have a sharp and sometimes biting sense of humour. They are more likely to kill for food and it really doesn't matter what the food might be.]
But from what I understand about Gnomes they are workers of the earth and all its treasures just like the dwarfs.
In Indian belief, it is the Kubera who guards the earths treasures and who allows certain humans to find jewels and precious ores like gold and silver.
It seems that the most notably Gnome is that of the Egyptian Mythology. They are also divine - like called Geb and are the Earth Gods.
They have the characters of a dwarfish stature and have wrinkles like that of an old mans face.
The Fijian Veli live in an existence somewhere between the dwarfs and the fairies. Different parallel worlds you could say.
It is more likely that these Paracelsus created the category of the Gnomes after the earth - dwellers of his own land and culture - the mining dwarf.
Al thought today Gnomes have been seen only in gardens as
ornaments.
and as fun magical creatures in books. It  doesn't mean that they - The Gnomes - aren't hidden deep in the mountains doing what they do best, as they have always done thousands of years of mining in the depths of the earth and are still doing this to this day.
The Gnomes are said to be the guardians of the treasures of the mountains and will always be.
I also believe that the Gnomes are quite the family people too.
I hope that you all Enjoyed my Gnomes. And for the coming year of 2014 I will be doing much more of my Magical Creatures.
Much love to you my dear Friends and Readers...

Kirin - Japanese Unicorn

Kirin - Japanese Unicorn
The Kirin
Japanese Unicorn
When I found the Kirin I was quite surprised on how much it is compared to our mythical Unicorn that I just covered a couple of days ago... It seems that contrary to the either soft white, deep black
and sometimes in the myth of the unicorn Red too as most people will recognize in the western
Mythology or legends, the Asian countries have their own form of unicorn of sorts you could say. These
Creatures have many different names in the Asian culture: [Ch'i Lin, Qilin, Quilin, & K'i Lin and there are
many other spelling and variations due to continuous differing translation into the Latin-based languages.
Yet it seems that the Asian culture as come to one name that has simplified all the other translations and
had make it their own Asian Unicorn. They call it the Kirin, and focus on the Japanese interpretation of the
creature. The Kirin Unicorn has quite a number of descriptions because of its many list of names, even thought it is mostly called the Kirin Japanese Unicorn.. Some of these are: It seems that the
Kirin can be described has having a dragon's head that is attached to the body of a deer, which is covered in beautiful dragons scales, and a tail of an ox. And of course he has the famous large horn in the middle of it forehead... So to me the Kirin truly does sound like the Asian Unicorn... although in some ways I prefer this one more. Its probably because I love dragons and yu all
know that by just looking at my blog hhehhe... There are other variations that they speak of with the
Kirin Creature. These depictions are a bit more evil of sorts meaning that the Kirin is covered in fire that
can burn away evil people or even a chimera mixed with a fish's scales. The Kirin body is that of a Tiger with
horse's legs and has a dragon's head and neck. [Note it not so much that the Kirin may seem more evil looking, its what he does with is power against evil that is what is important].
Kirin as in the Japanese Emperors Kingdom
It seems too that with each new dynasty, Era or even country the Kirin will appear to be reborn to fit the
needs of the time that it is living in. Mostly frequently the Kirin was associated with the Japanese Emperors and the wise scholars of the times, so their depictions could alter in order to boast ferociousness or
otherworldly powers of those the Kirin would represent - like that of the Japanese Emperors...
The origins of the Kirins comes originally from China as many Japaneses things do.. where it was one of the
Four Divine Creatures that first arose into the world. Of the Four Divine Creatures the first arose into the
world they were the Kirin, Phoenix, Turtle and the Dragon.
Each of these Four divine creatures are associated with: a season - a element - a specific written character. In the myth, the Four Creatures Kirin, Phoenix, Turtle and the Dragon were created
by the first God before the world was made, and after the God had completed his task/ the Four
Magick creatures disappeared into the dark, mysterious places into the world that he he created.
The Dragon swam into the ocean depths, the Tortoise went to the marshy swamp land, the
Phoenix went into the sky and the Kirin disappeared into the depths of the forest...
Kirin Japanese Unicorn
After it was set upon the earth, the Kirin was said to have great magick powers that allowed him to
determine the purity of a person human. It was also known to be a peaceful creature that would bring
good luck and prosperity to those that ever would be so luck to encounter the rare creature.
Since it had this acute ability to determine if a human was wicked or had succumbed to vice, the pure and
kind hearted Kirin was seen as a symbol of justice that would punish those who strayed away from the path
of good and had strayed away to the path of evil you could say.. There are some myths that even speak of
a Kirins ability to breathe fire just like his divine brother the dragon. This fire breathing power that would only burn the evil people that it touched. It was also noted as being so peaceful and benevolent that it would
not even harm the blades of grass it stepped on, and so would walk silently over the valleys and fields of grass never even bending a single blade of grass.
Kirin Japanese Unicorn
These Divine Creatures were also very elusive creatures, that would only appear to people that would grow
to have amazing purpose and power. If an emperor were to see one, It would signify that he was ruling justly
and fairly. It was also said that the most righteous rulers would often see the Kirin grazing in their palace meadows. The Kirin did not just show itself to those of royalty it would also appeared on the day
Confucius was born and presented his parents with a message telling them their son would grow to be
a 'man of extraordinary good moral and talent.'
It is said that the earliest appearace of an Kirin was in the 5th century BC. Some have said it was even earlier as early as 122 BC.  I have noticed that some have the horn and others don't it just depends.. The Kirin are also said to be a symbo of fertility and often will bring children to a family...
I found this Magick Creature to be quite wonderful and
I hope that they are still roaming happily on our Earth even today doing the good that they do.. Wonderful and amazing creature the Kirin.. I hope that you all Enjoyed the Kirin Japanese /China Creature as much as I did.. I hope to find more fun interesting magical creatures like that of the Kirin..

'FAIRY TREES'-2013

'FAIRY TREES'

The tree of eternity
whose roots rise on high
and whose branches reach down to earth
is pure spirit
who in truth is called non-death.
All the worlds rest in it
and beyond it no one can go.
by the Katha Upanishad

Trees connect us directly with the spirit realm of the Faeries, Elves, dryads Oak fairy's & many other kinds of tree fairy's and - magical creatures too...

The Oak Tree is the most ancient & magical of all the tree's. It is said that the Oak tree or an ancient Oak forest is like a gateway to where the Elves and all magical creatures world is. Its like our two worlds thrive in the ancient forest of the Oak. It is said that an Oak tree is especially magical if mistletoe grows within its boughs - this is a rare occurrence. But if your are lucky to find this tree - This is most likely where you would find an portal hole between the two worlds.

Enter these enchanted woods,
You who dare.
Nothing harms beneath the leaves,
More than waves a swimmer cleaves.
Toss your heart up with the lark,
Foot at peace with mouse and worm,
Fair you fare.
Only at a dread of dark
Quaver, and they quit their form:
Thousand eyeballs under hoods
Have you by the hair.
Enter those enchanted woods
You who dare,
